AIM Forum

The Psychology of Exercise, Health, and Physical Activity Laboratory at the University of British Columbia, needed a discussion forum on one of their existing websites. They were relatively happy with their current site and did not want to completely rebuild it, however it was a relatively simple, static site and could not support the kind of functionality demanded by a dynamic forum.

We decided the best approach was to create a Drupal site entirely devoted to the forum and that would closely resemble their current site. The forum site would effectively be a section of the current site, accessed through its primary navigation, and users would not even realise that they were switching between two different sites.

A custom theme was created for this site, matching the look and feel of the original. Additional styling was introduced where necessary, to enhance the user experience.

The forum allows unregistered users to participate in discussions, with greater privileges and functionality afforded to users who choose to register accounts. Site moderators have the ability to edit any forum content and to close accounts if necessary. They are also notified if users flag certain content as inappropriate for whatever reason, which was functionality we built in as part of a greater system of spam prevention.
